With miles of coastline, the New River, and lush coastal forests, Onslow County offers outdoor adventures for every skill level and interest.
1. Hammocks Beach State Park
Take the ferry to Bear Island for pristine, uncrowded beaches. It's one of the most beautiful barrier islands on the East Coast and it's right in our backyard.
2. New River Kayaking
Paddle the calm waters of the New River through scenic stretches of marshland and forest. Several local outfitters offer rentals and guided tours.
3. Topsail Island Beaches
From North Topsail Beach to Surf City, the island offers 26 miles of beautiful Atlantic coastline perfect for swimming, surfing, and shell collecting.
4. Onslow County Trails
The county maintains several trail systems ideal for running, biking, and walking. The Northeast Creek Greenway is a favorite for families.
5. Fishing Charters
Head offshore for deep-sea fishing or stay inshore for redfish and flounder. Sneads Ferry and Swansboro both have excellent charter operations.
